2 Pokémon Go

Undoubtedly, the best thing to have happened to ’90s kids in 2016. And for shopping malls too, since the Poké Stops brought foot traffic into retail spaces. Hot spots include Marina Bay, Orchard Road and, for some reason, block 401 Hougang Avenue 10. We also saw our country’s first-ever Pokémon Master, 31-year-old Chapman Sim, who flew around the globe to complete his Pokedex.

3 When Kim Kardashian got robbed
Shortly after she Instagrammed a photo of the $4 million ring that Kanye West gifted her, two robbers broke into Kim’s apartment in Paris, where she was attending Fashion Week, and held her at gunpoint. The reality star was understandably shook – her social media accounts went unusually quiet after the incident, and the production of Keeping Up With the Kardashians even went on hold for a while.

Alicia Keys made headlines in 2016 when she rolled up to the VMAs without makeup on because, as she explained later, she was “tired of the constant judgement of women”. The singer has since been making appearances on TV shows and on her album cover sans makeup.

The entertainment world was in shock when Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift announced their breakup – only to have photos of her canoodling with Tom Hiddleston splashed across the front page of a tabloid a few weeks later. Cue Inter net conspiracy theorists weighing in on whether all of it was real or just a well-calculated PR stunt.

6 Kanye West vs Taylor Swift vs Kim Kardashian
Kanye released “Famous”, where he rapped about Taylor, saying he made “that b*tch famous”. Kanye claimed that T -Swift knew about it and even gave her approval, which she vehemently denied. Then Kim Kar dashian released footage that showed Taylor on the phone with Kanye, talking about the song lyrics, proving that Taylor did know about some of the lyrics. Whoops.

7 Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Ah, the actress who launched a thousand copycats on Halloween. Suicide Squad opened to much fanfare, but it was a disappointment for many fans, especially for its treatment of the Joker. The silver lining is Harley Quinn, played to perfection by Margot Robbie. We’d be stoked to see her reprise the role again, preferably in a standalone spin-off?

What we love most about Singapore’s blogging queen is that she’s always game enough to take the piss out of herself.
