Yanmar Marine International (YMI)’s 4JH45, the smallest common-rail diesel engine available in the boating market, was chosen as the standard equipment by Danish sailing cruiser builder X-Yachts for its new 12.5m X4 model crafted in the Scandinavian style.

“We are very pleased to be associated with X-Yachts,” says YMI Global Sales Manager Floris Lettinga. “This is a builder that is particularly discerning in its choice of equipment. We believe that our new JH range of compact high-performance, high-efficiency and ultra low-emission common-rail diesels complements the design and manufacturing principles of Scandinavia’s premier performance sailing cruiser brand. The exceptionally low noise, vibration, exhaust gas fume levels have set new standards in sailboat propulsion in terms of comfort on-board.”

In common with all of Yanmar’s new generation of marine diesel engines, the 4JH series was designed from the outset specifically for marine applications. The 4JH45 four-cylinder, 2.2 litre, naturally aspirated engine delivers 45mhp at 3,000rpm. It meets EPA Tier3 and RCD2 (2016) emissions standards.

X-Yachts will launch the X4 sailing cruiser in the autumn boat shows. At the same time it will also be unveiling its 20.1m sibling, the new X6 model that is also fitted with a Yanmar marine engine. In this case it will be the Yanmar 6BY3-160 Series, offered as an option for this model and with shaft-drive transmission. This six-cylinder, 3 litre common-rail engine delivers 160mhp with assistance from turbocharged and charge-cooled aspiration.
