William Schick, founder and Managing Director of Basco, has over 30 years of experience across the marine industry and said he noticed a gradual decline in the effectiveness of the traditional yacht brokerage model in the internet age. Schick aims to change the way luxury yachts are sold in Asia by organising online boat auctions in a bid to reach more potential buyers and reduce the sales time.
“It became clear to us that online boat auctions are truly the way forward and our Basco marketplace is on the crest of a wave of the future of yacht and boat buying and selling,” Schick said.
“This is very different from the traditional view of auctions that were, prior to this, associated with liquidation sales or even distressed and damaged stock situations.”
