CANNES TARGETS 600 YACHTS, 100 PREMIERES

The world’s leading luxury yacht builders will again be out in force at Europe’s largest on-water boat show, which will feature boats from 2.8m up to megayachts of 50m and is expected to attract about 50,000 visitors.

The Beneteau Group will have a huge presence at its ‘home’ show in France. Beneteau sailing yachts on display will include four Oceanis models – the 38.1, 41.1, 45 and 51.1 – as well as the Oceanis Yachts 62 and the Sense 51 and 57.

Beneteau’s motor boats include the Gran Turismo 40, 46, 50 and 50 Sportfly, the Swift Trawler 44, the Flyer 6.6, 7.7 and 8.8, plus the MC5 and MC6 from the Monte Carlo series.

Lagoon will stage the world premieres of its new flagship Seventy 8 power catamaran and 40 and 50 sailing catamarans, alongside the 42, 450F and 52F sail cats and 630MY power cat. Sister shipyard CNB will stage the world premiere of its 66.

Jeanneau will have a strong 19-yacht line-up including the debuts of the Sun Odyssey 440 and 490 sailing yachts, and five powerboats also making their world premieres – Cap Camarat 9.0 WA and 7.5 BR, Leader 30 and 33, and NC 33.

Prestige will premiere the 460 and 520 from the Flybridge line and 630 S and 680 S from the Yachts division, along with three other models.

Italian yard Monte Carlo Yachts, also part of the Beneteau Group, will exhibit its entire seven-strong range from 65 to 105ft, including the world premiere of the MCY 96 (profiled in Spotlight and High Life this issue).

Other top Italian luxury yacht builders will also be to the fore. Ferretti Yachts will stage the global debuts of its FY780 and FY920, Riva will premiere its 56’ Rivale and 100’ Corsaro, while Custom Line – also part of the Ferretti Group – will showcase its Navetta 33.

The Azimut Yachts display will include the world premieres of the 60 Flybridge, S7, Grande 27 Metri and Grande 35 Metri, while sister shipyard Benetti Yachts will showcase the 42m Willow, a Veloce 140’, launched this year.

Sanlorenzo will officially debut the SX line with the new SX88, its first crossover model, among a display featuring seven other models from 24-38m.

British yards will also be well represented by Sunseeker and Princess Yachts. Sunseeker’s eight-strong exhibit will include the world premiere of the Predator 57 MK II and the Cannes debuts of the Manhattan 66, 68 Sport Yacht and 131 Yacht.

Princess will also have a large display, including the world premiere of the new 62 from the Plymouth builder’s Flybridge range, while Fairline Yachts will debut its updated 48.

Polish yard Sunreef Yachts will showcase its Supreme 68 Power and unveil plans for its new models, while Galeon, another leading Polish builder, will stage the world premiere of its 470 Skydeck.

Leading Asian yards will also feature, with UAE-based Gulf Craft displaying its Majesty 100 and Majesty 110 superyachts and Taiwan’s Horizon Yacht exhibiting an FD85.

The show’s on-land attractions include the Luxury Gallery, which is situated within the Palais des Festivals and will be dedicated to premium brands in the worlds of watches, jewellery, spirits, fashion, accessories, furniture and decor.

Other attractions include the third edition of the Concours d’Elegance, a parade of vintage and contemporary boats up to 12m, which will be held on September 14 in the Vieux Port, alongside the VIP pontoon and beach area.
