Link bracelet straps are timeless and safe, but sometimes you want a watch that’s a little less ‘business’ and more casual. In these cases, opt for a mesh strap.
Link bracelet straps are timeless and safe, but sometimes you want a watch that’s a little less ‘business’ and more casual. In these cases, opt for a mesh strap. Offering up plenty of options is Swatch’s SKIN collection, where classic designs are given a tactile upgrade with fine, lightweight mesh. Stack ’em with bracelets or wear them solo, that’s up to you. But there’s no denying that these timepieces have an evergreen appeal.

ONE MINUTE WITH
DR. FOCK EE-LING
A quick catch-up with Dr. Fock Ee-ling from The Missing Piece to learn more about her YTL Hotels collab and her designs
Can you describe your muse?
“I have always said I would never design something that I wouldn’t want to wear myself. So, I think The Missing Piece muse is a lot like me. She’s not perfect, she doesn’t need to have the perfect body, but she deserves to be loved and to be told she is beautiful. She is a discerning woman who is comfortable in her own skin.”
How did you translate The Majestic Malacca hotel into your collection?
“Drawn by the hotel’s distinctive style, we dreamt up pieces with a rich use of motif and detail, in a palette of soothing hues reminiscent of Peranakan art and architecture. Many of the colours, the fabrics and the patterns found in my collection reflect or are inspired by the myriad details lovingly preserved in the hotel.”
What was the most rewarding part about this partnership?
“It has to be seeing the collection come to life in the hotel that inspired it! When you are truly inspired about something, all the pieces seem to fall into place. Some collections take a whole year to materialise, but this collection with YTL came together in just three months.”
What was your personal favourite?
“One of my favourite pieces in this collection is the Kueh Kueh Cheongsam. This design was finished with a scalloped collar, inspired by the retro scallop-edged napkins that accompany the afternoon tea served at The Majestic Malacca.”
