Rediscover the Tissot Heritage 1936 timepiece that pays tribute to the first wristwatches of the 1930s.

The 1930s was a significant period in horological history where men began to ditch their pocket watches for something more practical – the wristwatch. After all, a watch worn on the wrist would be more accessible than one that was hidden in a pocket. So watchmakers began taking pocket watches and welding arches on each side of the case before looping a fine leather strap at the back.

The Heritage 1936 by Swiss watchmaker, Tissot, harks back to those simpler days – a time where watches counted hours and seconds, not steps or text messages. The classic design takes inspiration from a timepiece in the brand’s 1936 collection, featuring a small seconds display at six o’clock, charming 24-hour markers on the chapter ring, and the heritage Tissot logo.

The reimagined version of the Heritage 1936 fuses the old and new beautifully. The open-tipped hands are reminiscent of early watches, while the leather strap features stitch detailing for added reinforcement. It is powered by an automatic movement which can be admired when the strap is removed and the back of the case is opened.

And it’s not just men who are able to enjoy the timepiece. The Heritage 1936 Lady offers the same vintage-inspired style but in a smaller, 36mm size. With a case backing that’s perfect for personalised engravings, we can’t think of a better Christmas wish for him or her.
