TRY A DARK SHADOWY STRIPE

Dark colours are known for being slender- ising, helping to cloak lumps and bumps in shadow. Pinstripes can lengthen one’s silhouette, but, instead of a banker-esque combination of white stripes and blue, tonal striped navy feels fresh right now.

FITTED AND NIPPED

Concealing excess weight beneath tent- like garments makes you look larger than you are. A suit that fits well and is slightly nipped at the midsection will re-create a slim waist.

FOOT NOTES

Shoes with a slim, rounded toe complete a balanced silhouette – avoid extremes like uber-pointy or square-toed shoes that make your feet look like two bricks.

KEEP IT SHORT

Concealing burgeoning hips with a too- long jacket looks sloppy and adds bulk. Cropped styles that hit just above the hips are a sharper-looking choice.

FIGHT WEIGHT WITH WEIGHT

Go for slightly heavier fabrics, instead of too-thin materials that only reveal unwanted curves.

COLOUR BLOCKING

Mixing colours can help to break up a large profile. Use lighter colours to accentuate your strong features and darker shades to hide the rest.

CAN I FOLD MY JEANS INSTEAD OF HEMMING THEM?

A well-altered pair of jeans can make a person look taller. If you have to, just do a small double fold.

MUST I GROOM MY BODY HAIR?

If you have a lot of body hair, a trim would be good, or you may look like you’re hiding broccoli under your clothes. As a person with a significant amount of body hair, I find that trimming it makes me look less untidy.

A BLUE WATCH LIKE NO OTHER

Blue-dialled watches are not uncommon. But those with a finely gradated finish like the one on H. Moser’s Endeavour Tourbillon Concept are.
