In this first-ever youth takeover of Her World, we gave them a canvas to express themselves: a group of street dancers lets us in on their vibrant lifestyle (captured and styled by Lasalle students), young women make themselves heard on issues close to their hearts, and beauty lovers share their insider addresses. This is a glimpse at what makes young people tick.

TEE TIME
Arguably the uniform of the youth, the humble T-shirt’s versatility and genderaccommodating silhouette has lent it an undeniable enduring appeal. No longer confined to casual wear or fast fashion, it is now making more appearances on runway shows of luxury labels such as Burberry and Chloe, and taking centre stage at independent cult labels. Here, the top runway looks and cult brands that streetwear enthusiasts would approve of.
OFF-WHITE
Founded by American designer Virgil Abloh (aka artistic director of Louis Vuitton), this is the It brand that everyone wants a piece of, with its high profile collaborations (Nike, Heron Preston, Jimmy Choo) and celeb fans (Kendall Jenner and Kanye West). The streetwear label is known for its graphic and logoheavy designs. Available at #01-01, 268 Orchard Road, and #01-03/03A Paragon
BIANCA CHANDON
Established in 2014 by professional skateboarder Alex Olson, the brand draws inspiration from ’70s subcultures such as hippies and the Studio 54 disco club scene. The name is a nod to 70’s style icons Bianca Jagger and Olivier Chandon de Brailles. Its cool vintage vibe is bang on trend right now, with its signature “Lover” slogan design spotted on American model Sofia Richie and rapper Wiz Khalifa. Available at Dover Street Market Singapore
DOUBLET
Gender-neutral label Doublet was founded in 2012 by Japanese designer Masayuki Ino, winner of the 2018 LVMH prize. We love its cheeky T-shirts with an interactive twist. For instance, its special Year of the Rat tee (a collaboration with Dover Street Market). It features a rat embroidery design that can be unravelled to reveal an ox – the zodiac animal of 2021. Available at Dover Street Market Singapore
Burberry
DREAMLAND SYNDICATE
Founded by Paweł Eibel and Michał Kozłowski, the Polish streetwear label is known for its predominantly black and white DIY aesthetic. The duo see the T-shirt as an art medium to express post-punk subculture and skateboarding culture. The best part, it’s cool yet affordable: Prices range from $70-$90, despite its designs being donned by the likes of Kihyun of K-pop boy group Monsta X. Available at Dover Street Market Singapore
GCDS
The current poster child for baggy dressing (think oversized tees in shocking colours), Billie Eilish is a force to be reckoned with, not just because she bagged five Grammys at 18 years old, but also because her distinct aesthetic had Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino specially design this look for her.
