My Reading Room

Coach Coach EDT, $139. This floral-green fragrance is the embodiment of New York’s spontaneous, vibrant energy. The three key notes – pear, cedarwood and white alba rose – develop and keep your nose guessing as the scent evolves with wear. We especially love the turnlock-closureturned- atomiser, which is reminiscent of the brand’s iconic handbags.

Byredo Unnamed EDP, $281. To mark the Swedish brand’s first decade, founder Ben Gorham created a scent that customers get to name via a set of stick-on letters and numbers. The powdery floral with a woody drydown features gin accord, pink pepper, creamy orris and lush violet, moss and fir balsam. Smells like a blend of lipsticks and forests.

Hugo Boss Boss The Scent for her EDP, $202. Fragrant, juicy notes of peach, freesia and osmanthus provide the initial draw, but the deeper, sensual notes of roasted cocoa are what make this scent truly addictive. We think it smells like an expensive gourmand tea – the kind best enjoyed in small sips from pretty porcelain cups.

Bulgari Rose Goldea EDP, $232. Roses lie at the heart of this sophisticated, feminine fragrance. Notes of bergamot and pomegranate give it a sparkly opening before rose absolute, creamy jasmine and musk come to the fore, creating a woody, powdery finish. It’s subtle enough, so don’t worry about suffocating your dinner mates even if you’ve over-spritzed.

Tom Ford Ombre Leather 16 EDP, $330. Opening with a burst of spicy and green notes, the latest addition to Tom Ford’s prestige line, Private Blend, deepens into smoky leather and settles into a warm, earthy finish without being overbearing. Reminds us of a well-worn leather jacket with soft suede trimming.

Jo Malone Orange Bitters Cologne, $215. You’d be a walking breath of fresh air with this limitededition scent – a fusion of citrus (orange, mandarin and bitter orange) notes grounded by warm, sensual sandalwood and amber. Perfect for an intimate Christmas pot luck with close friends.

Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina In Rosso EDP, $158. The first spritz of this floriental fragrance delivers an addictive burst of sweetness, with notes that read like a recipe for an Italian dessert – think currant, rose and panna cotta. Instead of the usual light pink bottle, the juice is housed in a sleek red flacon – a limitededition design that is a definite collector’s item for fans of the scent.

Kenzo Jeu d’Amour L’Elixir EDP, $175. Rich notes of rum, caramel, patchouli and vanilla combine with fruity mandarin and blackberry to create a lush, sexysweet fragrance that is the third and most intense addition to Kenzo’s Jeu d’Amour range. Clinging to skin like a silk dress to curves, a couple of spritzes will see you through the night
