EDITOR’S NOTE

As I scrolled through Facebooks I scrolled through Facebookone lazy Sunday morning, a friend’s post caught my eye. It said: “Being a mum’s so tough. It’s only 10.30am, but I’ve already been cook, cleaning lady, chauffeur, doctor, counsellor. I’ve had to stop arguments, wipe away tears and vomit, dispensemedicine for a fever, bandage scuffed knees. It’s even more difficult when you’re a single mum!”

My heart went out to her, and I replied: “Single Mum = Superwoman +Wonder Woman”. Other friends, too, quickly sent more words of support.

Mother’s Day falls on May 8, so take time to honour the woman who gave you the gift of life. To my own mum: Thank you, and sorry for the times I’ve been annoying or difficult – not just as a child, but as an adult! If you’re a mum yourself (almost half our readers are), Meet the Yummy Mummies (page 214) details how five Singapore women balance career and motherhood while living life to the full.

What’s hot right now in fashion? Oh You Pretty Things (page 120) serves up ’70s-style glam rock, while The Simple Life (page 132) is about ladylike polish. We also identify four new (and affordable) labels we love (page 80), and 32 pairs of on-trend shoes (page 90).

Cushion compacts have been the buzzword in achieving that “my skin, but better” complexion. Crazy About Cushions (page 158) helps you find your perfect fit. For manicure junkies, Insta- Worthy Nails (page 146) points the way to the coolest designs trending.

Then turn to our special V-section (page 203) for a no-holds-barred celebration of the vagina. There’s still so much shame surrounding women’s nether regions, we thought we’d bring the subject out into the open for an airing. We hope it sparks a commitment to give vaginas the love and respect they deserve, and opens up discussions with your girl pals and your partner!

    Till next month
