There is no denying those shoulders are stupendous. Comme des Garconsmeets- Margiela stupendous. There is also no denying that the designer behind the label, Simon Porte Jacquemus (pictured above left), 26 – and selftaught with reportedly 13 collections under his belt – is one of the freshest talents to emerge from Paris. His latest collection, the F/W ’16, is his best yet. It features Celine-ish pieces – the intellectual toga dress, the rounded coat, layering, the ruffled asymmetrical skirt, the obi sashes. Despite the references (he is a millennial, after all), he has given them his own spin: his “Margielas”, “Commes” and “Celines” are the opposite of intellectual fashion statements. They aren’t weird, arty or hard to wear either. What they are: youthful revolutions, and a whole lot of fun. Celebs, fashion influencers and bloggers are going to be fans.
