In her capacity as Creative Director at Céline, Phoebe Philo has stood by her modus operandi of creating clothes that serve a purpose. For fall/winter, this meant arming the modern woman with more choices that allow her to tackle the challenges of cosmopolitan living head-on. As guests sat on rotating carousels inside a set conceptualised by French artist Philippe Parreno, they witnessed the indomitable march of models who powered down the catwalk in an arsenal that comprised boxy jackets, utilitarian trench coats and striped shirts—some held on to giant tote bags, fur stoles or thick blankets that spoke  of a stylised pragmatism that has come to define the French label.
