SWAROVSKI’S PARTNERSHIP WITH SINGAPORE FASHION WEEK 2016 SEES THE AUSTRIAN CRYSTAL BRAND THROWING THE SPOTLIGHT ON FASHION AND SPARKLE

Singapore’s fashion scene is about to get an added dose of glamour and excitement this October. As the Official Fashion Accessories partner of Singapore Fashion Week (SGFW) 2016, the Swarovski Opening Showcase Party—which takes place on the first night of the five-day event after Chinese haute couturier Guo Pei’s runway show—will be the ultimate showcase of why the 121-year-old Austrian crystal house is adored by women the world over. Hundreds of dazzling creations, encompassing a varied range of on-trend styles, will be on display as the brand’s high-profile guests look on from the front rows to toast the brand’s highly anticipated involvement this year.
GALAXY OF STYLE
In the lead up to fashion week, Swarovski has lined up a wide array of fashion-focused activities. Since August, digital campaigns highlighting the sparkling personalities of several Swarovski Insiders have been featured on SGFW and Swarovski’s digital and social media platforms.
Aptly titled “Style on the Go”, the videos give audiences a glimpse into the daily lives of the Insiders—which include Olivia Lazuardy from Indonesia, Tengku Chanela Jamidah from Malaysia, Sheranut Yusananda from Thailand, and Singapore’s very own Charmaine Seah- Ong, Rachel Lim and Bella Koh—and how they enhance their unique styles with Swarovski’s versatile accessories for a myriad of unique looks. Then, there is “Into the Wardrobe”: A style-infused photography series that features the personalities wearing their favourite designs from the brand’s fall/winter 2016/17 Crystal Galaxy collection.
To top it all off , in November, a Swarovski Insider will be hosting an exclusive shopping event with her friends and fans of the brand, to show how she mixes and matches, layers and stacks Swarovski’s sparkling creations, while also providing tips on how to personalise the jewellery to create unique looks of their own.
AN INSIDER’S WORLD
Stylish, independent and digitally savvy, Swarovski’s new troop of Insiders is part of the brand’s bid to make Singapore its regional fashion hub, and to engage a wider fashion-conscious audience that’s digitally interactive. Internationally, Swarovski is part of the digital bandwagon with its global collective of influential brand ambassadors (called Friends of Swarovski) that includes Bryanboy and Margaret Zhang.
One of the latest high-profile additions to this collective is American supermodel and philanthropist Karlie Kloss, who features in the brand’s fall/winter 2016 “Be Brilliant” campaign. Released earlier this May, it showcases a day in her life in New York City as captured by renowned streetstyle lensman, Tommy Ton. In it, Kloss brings her down-to-earth charm and trendy sensibilities to Swarovski’s avant-garde Reverse collection by Jean Paul Gaultier for Atelier Swarovski.
Inspired by the concept of “Perfect Imperfection,” the Reverse collection combines bold freedom with sleek, asymmetrical forms to produce contemporary pieces that exude structural beauty and easy wearability. Channelling the aura of modern-day talismans (something that is currently all the rage in the jewellery industry), the richly-hued jewels are made with hand-applied Swarovski crystals against sleek ruthenium plating.
In addition, the collection also flaunts the Kaputt crystal cut, exclusively designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for Swarovski last year, which is a technologically advanced cut consisting of six variants of an irregular form. Without a doubt, the Reverse collection and Kaputt one of the highlights that guests at SGFW look forward to. Get prepared for the dazzle sparkle—no sunglasses required.
