Capturing the fearless spirit of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind, former Victoria’s Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes played a frontierswoman traversing the outback of a forgotten Californian landscape for our cover shoot. Overcoming the logistical challenges that arose from Covid-19-related safety measures—during the state’s wildfire season, no less—Tookes and our crew scaled boulders and crossed highways to push forth a new-found romance through fashion. Long pilgrim dresses with Liberty prints, a top with an exaggerated Puritan collar and trusty leather boots became Tookes’s companions in relaying the shoot’s styling inspiration, culminating in stunning images that remind us that the hardships we’re facing right now will soon pass and we shall once again taste freedom.
