Runway Bandits’ Creative Director Quek Swee Ying shares her top fashion tips and a few of her favourite things.

What was the inspiration behind this collection?

To move away from the gaudiness that is prevalent in kids wear departments. For our new collection Sidekick Auditions, we wanted to experiment and create bitesized looks that are imbued with the effortless style that Runway Bandits is known for.

What is your favourite piece in this collection?

If I had to pick just one item, it’d be the cozy yet elegant Nasher dress. Name three fashion items you can’t live without. My Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, a pair of classic Ray-Ban Clubmasters and a rotation of white sneakers to keep it all clean and spiffy.

What is your go-to outfit?

A well-fitted pair of jeans that goes well with my wardrobe of simple separates. I run around quite a bit every day, so comfort is key.

What are your top three fashion tips?

1.When in doubt, go blue. A deep dark shade of navy goes well with any skin tone.

2. Man up! Embrace the classic oxford shirt for a timeless, collegiate appeal.

3. In my opinion, being trendy may not be a positive connotation. Dress for yourself, not for the sake of fitting in. Wear whatever makes you happy.
