What’s up with Tabitha
You’re playing the role of Mimi in Pangdemonium’s celebration of the 20th anniversary of Rent. What made you decide to take on this project in the first place?
I've always been a huge fan of the show, especially its music. It's so iconic. And when I was approached by [the Artistic Directors] Adrian and Tracie, I jumped on it because I've never worked with them before, and I would've been crazy to pass up an opportunity like that!
How has the acting experience been? How is this different from being in front of the camera, seeing that it’s a live stage show?
All the acting that I've ever done has been on stage; that's all I know for now. I guess a live stage show is more intimate. You get to feel and breathe and live in the emotions of a scene with the audience when you're performing right in front of them.
We hear you’re working on new music! When is it coming out?
Yes, I'm working on new music! My first single and music video is coming out sometime in September. Follow me on Snapchat and Twitter (@TabithaNauser) for more details!
How long have you been working on your new music, and what can we expect from it?
I feel like I've been working on my music for years! But I really only started the actual process about four months ago. I would say it has a darker sound, but it still has the quality of a catchy pop tune. I don't think there's anything like it out in the market now.
Where do you get the inspiration for your music from?
Anything and everything! I'm a very visual person, so fashion and art contribute greatly as inspirations. I'm also really lucky to be surrounded by amazing people with so much talent and great ideas that shape a lot of how I see the world, and how I portray my music.
