Eating a handful of nuts a day can cut your risk of dying from respiratory disease by about 50 per cent. It also lowers your chances of dying from diabetes, heart disease and cancer. “Nuts can reduce oxidative DNA damage, benefit the gut microbiota, and lower blood cholesterol, among other benefits,” explains author Dagfinn Aune. Cashews, almonds, walnuts... any nut, or peanuts (technically legumes), will do.
