We're constantly exposed to food cues that activate the part of our brain that causes cravings. Rather than rely on willpower to resist the urge to snack, Eating Disorder Consultant Dr Carolyn C. Ross suggests eating mindfully. According to her, when we take the time to savour our food, we may find we don’t want to eat as much. She also advises us to focus on eating to nourish the body – in other words, eat to live, not live to eat. She says over time, as we pay attention to how we feel after eating, we may find ourselves craving for healthier options.
