You’ve seen quinoa all over the menus of (ahem) hipster cafes, but for a nation that loves its rice, it seems there’s more to quinoa than just an Insta-worthy food snap. Sure, it’ll put a dent in your grocery bill, but if you look at the science, this seed has twice the protein content of the common rice grain, anti-inflammatory phytonutrients and a great mix of calcium, vitamin B and other awesome stuff.
