The ninth edition of Shape Yoga was an eventful morning of energising poses, meditation and partner exercises. in short: fun, peace and laughter!

Despite the wet weather, participants of Shape yoga 2017 showed up bright and early on nov 4 last year. they were rolling out their mats at Lawn @ the Foothills in Fort Canning park at as early as 6.30am, filling the entire grass patch with happy colours.
Like a blessing from above, the light drizzle subsided around 7.30am – and just in time for the programme to begin. the air was cool and crisp; the perfect setting for an outdoor workout.
Pure yoga instructors Mitzi tan and Louise tham took to the stage to lead an invigorating yoga sequence that got everyone’s adrenalin going as they flowed through several rounds of sun salutation poses, including downward dog, chaturanga and cobra.
When they’d warmed up, the instructors introduced more challenging postures, like rotated warrior, dancer and half moon, which require a good deal of balance and focus. no muscle was left idle!

Throughout the session, variations were given to those who preferred to take it easy or kick it up a notch.
After an hour of heart-pumping poses, it was time for meditation. In 30 minutes, we all went through guided breathing exercises that helped everyone relax and quieten the mind. It also proved to be useful in recharging them for the last – and most anticipated – part of Shape yoga 2017: buddy yoga.
A first for Shape yoga, buddy yoga was incorporated to let participants go deeper into their poses while building rapport. What seemed intimidating at first quickly became achievable, thanks to clear instructions and inspiring demos by Mitzi and Louise. giggles could be heard all around as everyone tried their best to get into the poses. Shape Fit girl winner victoria pang and Shape Fit girl finalist Shermaine tan joined in the fun, too!
Afterwards, participants were treated to a wholesome breakfast of homemade granola, organic banana muffins and green tea from the Fabulous Baker Boy. and they went home with attractive goodies, including a Shape swag bag and motivational cropped top, a limited-edition Calvin Klein performance gym sack and discount voucher, as well as a pure yoga trial pass.
