It also introduces a slew of sorely needed tech upgrades, like a 17.7cm infotainment screen and collision avoidance sensors, while shedding a couple hundred kilograms from the GLK build, for better fuel effi ciency.

The Mercedes-Benz GLCclass, spiritual successor to the GLK, will be in town soon, and is an SUV that scores in the design and functionality departments. The luxury crossover is powered by a 2-litre turbo four-cylinder, and takes many a leaf out of the Mercedes C-class playbook, such as spacious interior and sturdy handling. It also introduces a slew of sorely needed tech upgrades, like a 17.7cm infotainment screen and collision avoidance sensors, while shedding a couple hundred kilograms from the GLK build, for better fuel effi ciency. The dated GLK line ended its sevenyear production run last year, and was renamed to refl ect equivalency with the wellloved C-class sedan. “Out with the old” was the right call in this instance. Available here in the third quarter of the year.
A MINI ONE-UP
No surprises here – on the tail of the S-version upgrade for the reworked Mini Cooper Convertible comes the revved-up John Cooper Works (JCW) variant. The little speedster leverages on a BMWbuilt, 228bhp four-cylinder engine to hit the 0-100kmh mark in 6.5 seconds. Coupled with a fi ne-tuned suspension system and a body trimmed for sleeker aerodynamics, the JCW looks set to deliver on the promise of a more powerful and better-handling joyride, than its vanilla counterpart. Arriving in Singapore in the second half of this year.
FLY IN STYLE
Bentley’s bespoke furnishings team, Mulliner, has finally brought ultra luxe bells and whistles to the Flying Spur. The options are plenty, but our favourite has to be the on-board bottle cooler, which comes with two holders for wine glasses or champagne flutes. A close second – a hide-trimmed compartment that looks fit for royalty, to hold your evening dress watch and those cufflinks you promised to wear to dinner.
