50 Years Of Godzilla

Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition.

The Nissan GT-R celebrates its golden jubilee this year. To mark the occasion, Nissan is releasing a special 50th anniversary of what is arguably Japan’s most celebrated high-performance sports car. Unique to the GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition is its color. It’s available in Bayside Blue - a legendary color that was synonymous with the older R34 GT-R and one that has been retired since 2002. It doesn’t end there. The sports wheels have matching blue accents too, and the car features titanium mufflers that are - you guessed it - heat-treated to a shade of blue too. Finally, there are special 50th Anniversary badges all over the car to remind you that you are indeed driving something special.

Though the current GT-R has been in production since 2009, it still is a seriously quick car. The 3.8-liter V6 within produces 565hp but it receives new turbos that improve low-rpm response and reduce lag. Performance is therefore formidable even in comparison to today’s supercars. 0 to 100km/h in under three seconds and a top speed of over 300km/h means you need to be driving something seriously exotic to outrun it. All in all, this sounds like a fitting tribute to a motoring icon.
