Electric Dreams

Pininfarina Battista.

Legendary Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina has just unveiled the Battista. Named after the founder of the company, the Battista is Pininfarina’s first ever production car and it is an allelectric hypercar of improbable numbers. Its power output is stupendous. What we have here is 1,900hp and a tarmacripping 2,300nm of torque, courtesy of a 120kWh lithiumion battery pack from electric hypercar specialist Rimac. Pininfarina claims this makes the Battista the most powerful road-legal car to ever come out of Italy. Unsurprisingly, it is very fast. Pininfarina says the Battista will out-accelerate an F1 car: 0-100km/h in less than two seconds and 0-300km/h in less than 12 seconds. Top speed is 350km/h. The big numbers don’t end there. Six-piston brake calipers are used throughout and carbon ceramic discs come as standard - a massive 390mm at the front and 380mm at the rear. The last big number that you need to know is its price. It is estimated to cost around US$2.6 million and only 150 of these will be made.
