The Queen of Pop was a rebel in her youth, but she’s turned into a guardian angel over the years. Since her first trip to Malawi in 2006, Madonna has led a continuous effort to support the nation’s orphaned or vulnerable children through her non-profit organisation, Raising Malawi. In July, after the pop star opened a children’s hospital wing in the impoverished South African country, Malawi’s president even went so far as to name her “the daughter of this nation”.
