My Reading Room

Say the word ‘peel’ and some of us might imagine harsh chemicals burning our face off, but that’s far from the truth. In fact, facial peels only loosen the dead skin cells from the topmost layer of skin, revealing brighter skin and allowing active skincare ingredients that follow in your skincare regimen to penetrate into it for better results.

Peels commonly contain acids like glycolic, lactic, mandelic or salicylic acid. Compared to chemical peels administered by a trained doctor, at-home peels are generally gentler as they are less concentrated – but that’s not to say they are less efficacious. When used frequently (about once every two weeks), at-home peels can diminish pigmentation, fine lines and the appearance of large pores.
