Once-in-a-lifetime trips are relative. With enough means and time, the list of out-of-this-world destinations and experiences narrows. But among them, Antarctica, like Everest, stands out as the epitome of an extraordinary trip. Its harsh conditions – bitter cold and brutal winds – are deterrents for most tourists, but it’s precisely this that attracts intrepid travellers. A trip to the seventh continent is a conversation piece, as well as a story for posterity.

That’s why it pays to document the experience well. To that end, Natural World Safaris is offering a photography journey led by acclaimed wildlife lensman and conservationist Andy Rouse. Rouse has also authored 18 books and appeared on Discovery and National Geographic channels.

The journey, which includes seven days on the expedition ship M/V Akademik Ioffe, will take place next year, from Nov 17-30, so you will have a year to plan. This period is spring in Antarctica, when the landscape and wildlife are particularly stunning.

And with Rouse on hand, you’ll be well equipped to take a visual slice of the continent home.
