Koko rug by Omar Khan

Portrait of Tammy Strobel

The designer’s penchant for and expertise in 3-D and graphical elements stem from his degree in animation and graphic design from Parsons School of Design in New York.

Koko is an exclusive piece in the collaboration between luxury retail site Wright & Smith and Omar Khan. To create Koko’s floral and symmetrical motif, 14 tonal colours – including a blue tint that is exclusive to Wright & Smith – were used.

BIO

Coveted for its ethereal and lush motifs referencing historical symbols, each Omar Khan rug is a visual and sensorial masterpiece. New Zealand wool is dyed in rich hues and – to bring Omar’s intricate design to life with a layered and 3-D effect – is hand-tufted and carved. The Koko rug, for instance, is a Rococo-inspired design awash in a blue and gold palette.

TRIVIA
Omar has worked for clients such as W Residences and The St. Regis Singapore, and high fashion brands like Christian Louboutin and Azzedine Alaia. You can spot Omar’s Li Ling rug at The Yoga School in Singapore.
