This capacious family home is designed to have spaces unique to each individual, while still maintaining a unified look that is stately, elegant and absolutely alluring.

Three-storey semi-detached house.
SIZE

The living area is
tastefully furnished
with an assortment
of bespoke furniture,for a comfortable
and luxurious
space to hold family
gatherings.
For a dwelling in which the Tay family feel truly at home, an extensive overhaul with structural alterations to the facade and interiors was involved. The work took over a year and was overseen by Adrian Heng of Ottimo Spazi, and the result is a luxurious modern classic, hotel-inspired look.

“The idea was to instil a feel of living in a plush hotel suite,” says Adrian. He designed the three-storey house based on a colour theme of contrasting dark tones and shades of white, with pops of colour.
Concealed doors
and cabinet panels
are part of the
aesthetics of the

interior, resulting in
a seamless look.
Each family member decided on the details for their respective areas of the house, says the designer, allowing for personalisation of their private space.
The design makes
use of clean-cut
linear forms and
details, as seen
in the dry kitchen
built-in cabinetry
that is done up in
contrasting neutral
shades of cream
and beige, and
stark black.
On the second floor, the younger son’s room features a bold and fun colour palette of teal and bright yellow, and a study area with an eye-catching staggered geometric design. In comparison, the master suite has a more grown-up and restful look, with a sophisticated beige and bronze theme. Occupying almost the entire third floor is the elder son and daughter-in-law’s space – a monochromatic open-concept setting that includes a concealed walk-in wardrobe.
In the master suite
on the second floor,
the mood is elegant
and sophisticated with
mellowed neutrals and
a hint of subtle colour.
Opulent textures in the
furniture upholstery,
headboard panelling
and bedding further add
to the hotel suite look.
Despite each having a comfortable, private sanctuary, Adrian ensured that the home still has a consistent look throughout, unified by the choice of materials and decorating style. Seen around the rooms are lots of stone finishes in the flooring and counters, feature walls with plush panelling, and clean-cut built-in structures. To up the luxe factor and soften the spaces, numerous area rugs, from cowhide to tufted, patterned ones, are included.
The walk-in wardrobe
appears to be
dramatically long,
thanks to its sleek
design and mirror
that visually doubles
its length.
Another unique feature of the home is the loose furniture items. From the marble-and-steel coffee table to the high-back accent chairs upholstered in velvet-look fabric, all were customised and made locally. Adrian even had fabrics specially imported from different parts of Europe to accentuate the overall design.
Bathrooms are
beautifully decked
out in stone tiles with
attractive textures and
soothing colours.
This attention to detail adds a sense of sophistication and character, turning the home into an inviting abode with stunning style and timeless appeal.
The bedroom of the
younger son has a
playful look, featuring
a colour palette based
on complementary
teal and yellow
colours. A dark woodtone

the vibrant
colours
perfectly.
WHERE TO GO
The elder son and
daughter-in-law’s
room occupies
almost the whole
of the top floor,
and has an openconcept

A concealed
spacious walk-in
wardrobe provides
lots of storage
space for bags
and accessories,
as well. Its design
incorporates
soft lighting and
mirrored finishes,
for an ambient
dressing area.
Open sleeping and
bathing areas make
the room look and
feel like a hotel
suite. Contemporary
details are mixed
with plush soft
furnishings to
complete the modern
luxe look.
