As much as its Automaton timepieces get regularly publicised in horology publications the globe over (this year’s Loving Butterfly Automaton is extraordinary), Jaquet Droz is equally famed for its exquisite enamelling, as seen in the newest renditions of its Petite Heure Minute. Featuring miniature paintings of a lion, a flamingo and a koi carp, the three timepieces in this series come alive through vibrant colours set against black Grand Feu enamel. Intricate brushstrokes result in an artwork that’s worthy of the Impressionist canon.
