GREENER PASTURES

No shade to blues, blacks, greys and browns—they’re all perfectly serviceable neutrals, but every man’s wardrobe is probably filled with them already. For something with a little more zing, yet is equally wearable, look to green, which is shaping up to be the colour of the season as designers updated timeless classics in verdant hues. Prada and Bottega Veneta both presented smart tailoring in a deep forest green while Gucci offered up slim jade knit and metallic emerald trousers made for the more adventurous.

THE ALCHEMISTS

Helmut Lang bridged the worlds of fashion and art when he worked with artists such as Jenny Holzer in the ’90s. Since walking away from his brand in 2005, the designer has devoted himself fully to his art—destroying his clothing archive and remoulding the pieces into stark, minimalist sculptures. In a new collaboration with Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent Rive Droite, Lang sits firmly on the other side of the fashion-art equation. Vaccarello turned over his past Saint Laurent collections of clothing and accessories prototypes to Lang, who shredded them, mixed them with resin and moulded them in aluminium to fashion his signature textural, totemic sculptures.

PETAL TO THE METAL

Extending the brand’s rich, maximalist aesthetic beyond clothes and accessories, Dolce&Gabbana has released a line of fine jewellery that can be worn by both men and women. The standout pieces include decorative brooches in the form of ornate flowers and filigreed crowns—perfect for these Zoom-filled times where the biggest style statements are made from the waist up.
