Hi, my name is Alicia and I’ve never gone camping in my life. #TrueStory.

But before you write me off as a spoilt city brat, in my defense, I’m always up for trying new things. And I’ve been fascinated with the idea of glamping (a portmanteau of glamour and camping) since it’s all everyone talks about these days, so when given the chance to check out Heritage Suites Hotel in Siem Reap recently, I quite literally packed my bags and was ready to go.

Heritage Suites Hotel is an award-winning boutique retreat that has recently undergone an extensive renovation to refurbish their suites for the ultimate in R&R, so it’s defi nitely worth checking out (or should I say in) if you intend to stay on in Siem Reap and explore the city. But let’s get to the heart of the matter: Heritage Suites Hotel also offers an atmospheric two-day-onenight retreat known as the Heritage Adventures Luxury Tented Camp during the cooler months of November to March (subjected to change according to climate changes).

So if you’re like me and just can’t rough it out, you’ll be happy to know that this once-in-a-lifetime experience allows you to bask in Mother Nature’s beauty while being pampered. Since we’re talking glamping here, there’s no need to put your girl scout skills to the test and set up your own tents; the spacious tents are set on wooden platforms and outfitted with luxurious amenities and plush furnishings. You’ll even have your own private verandah for a spot of yoga or simply curling up with a good book while being surrounded by lush jungle-scapes. More good news: each tent has its own bathroom with modern facilities and locally-made bath amenities from Bodia Nature.

At Heritage Adventures Luxury Tented Camp, your adventure doesn’t stop at your luxurious camp digs. Whether you decide to glamp it with your partner or BFF, you can also opt to follow a tailor-made itinerary by Heritage Adventures. From excursions to the historical Angkor Wat temple site to hedonistic dance parties, you’re guaranteed a truly satisfying experience.

For any glamping experience to be complete, one has to partake in a feast fit for kings, and that is exactly what you’ll get when you dine at Heritage Restaurant. Helmed by Chef Vibol Boun, it serves his signature fusion of Khmer classics and Western cuisine that will leave you begging for more. If exotic meats are your thing, you won’t be able to resist the Grilled Kangaroo Fillet and Grilled Crocodile Steak. Other must-tries include the Grilled Mekong Langoustine and Kaffir Lime Mousse, which is the perfect way to end your meal (and stay) on a high note.

My verdict? Camping might never become my thing, but glamping, I could definitely get used to.
