ASEANbeauty 2019

May 2–4

ASEANbeauty revealed the potential of the bustling Thai cosmetics market during a key event held at Thailand’s BITEC Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bang Na in May. Over 9,865 participants from 47 countries around the world visited the event to learn about the country’s trending ‘anti-ageing’ style, trial new health and beauty innovations in a designated testing zone, and attend workshops and demonstrations. During the three-day exhibition, 2,776 beauty entrepreneurs and businessmen were ‘matched’ to network and partner in a specialised Business Matching programme.

THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY spa delegates attended the second edition of World Spa & Wellness Asia in May, held at Le Meridien Beach Resort, in Thailand’s Phuket. Among the standout sessions were keynote talks by Vanessa Main, the director of The Loft Studio Spa, who discussed becoming a “kick-ass” leader by building a “kick-ass” team, and an invigorating session by social media trainer Brooke Vulinovich who shared insights on working with influencers to grow brands. A panel presentation on ‘Treating guests living with cancer and others with compromised health’ was also extremely popular and received high praise.

Beauty entrepreneurs and companies maximised their chance to interact with over 200 international beauty brand manufacturers and producers from 24 countries at the fifth edition of philbeauty. The event attracted almost 6,000 trade professionals for the three-day gathering and many took advantage of the show’s exclusive matchmaking programme that paired trade buyers with ideal exhibitors. Elsewhere, the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines held an International Beauty Conference and technical seminars, live demonstrations and on-stage events filled the calendar. The beauty industry in the Philippines has become increasingly exciting, with cosmetic brands, beauty clinics and skincare products offering new innovations.

Registration is open for October’s Global Wellness Summit, to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The key topic this year is How to Put Purpose at The Heart of Business. Three students will vie to win top prize and kickstart their wellness concepts in another event highlight, the Shark Tank competition.
