Following extensive research in the field of exploration vessels, Italian builder Sanlorenzo has developed, sold and built the 460 Explorer (EXP) that is 460GT and 42 metres in length.

Sanlorenzo’s first 460EXP, Moka, successfully concluded her maiden voyage: a transatlantic ocean journey that brought her to American shores where she was met by her Owner. Moka navigated more than 5,600nm during her month at sea, averaging 12.5 knots.

The 460EXP has a displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure characterised by Sanlorenzo’s unmistakable lines and is capable of cruising to remote destinations in the polar regions and beyond.

Sanlorenzo has reported the sale of five 460EXPs and two have been delivered. The one sold by Simpson Marine to an Asian buyer will be delivered in 2018, according to Simpson’s Group Marketing Manager Ewa Stachurska.

This “very special” 460EXP (460GT and 42 metres in length) has been lengthened by approximately 4m and the Gross Tonnage has been increased to just under 500 to accommodate a helicopter landing pad and a three-person submarine as well as a small sport fishing boat, tender and other water sports equipment.

Space to carry a variety of ‘toys’, safety, sea-keeping and selfsufficiency are the distinguishing features of the 460EXP that bring the real meaning of adventure to her Owner – the exploration of exciting, faraway destinations, combined with the safety and comfort of a superyacht and produced with the experience, craftsmanship and innovation of Sanlorenzo.

Great attention has been paid to the environment and its conservation. The yacht will receive two classifications from RINA: the Comfort Class classification (due to low sound levels and minimised acoustic vibrations (Acoustic Privacy) and the Green Plus classification as a result of technical characteristics and features that make the yacht ‘eco-friendly’.
