My Reading Room
Working with unconventional partners to create bold fashionable timepieces has always been Hublot’s MO, so it was surprising that Vacheron Constantin beat them to the sartorial world when it launched the Metiers d’Art Elegance Sartoriale with the world’s oldest fabric maker, Vitale Barberis Canonico, last year. Not to be left behind, Hublot has teamed up with Lapo Elkann’s design company, Italia Independent, and Italian tailor Luca Rubinacci for a series of fabric-clad Classic Fusion watches. With some 60,000 sqm of cloth to choose from, a selection of houndstooth, tartan and Prince-of-Wales check patterns were made for six different versions of the Hublot Classic Fusion Italia Independent. Two will be in titanium, two in ceramic, and two in King Gold.
