Royal Selangor’s latest collection pays homage to the majestic creatures of Africa.

Africa has long captivated the imagination with its exotic landscapes, from vast expanses of bone-dry desert to lush rainforests teeming with wildlife. Pewter crafting company Royal Selangor is paying homage to all of this with its new Savannah collection.

Hearkening back to the age of luxury travel in the early 20th century, the collection features exquisitely designed barware and wine accessories that will add a touch of intrigue to home entertaining. Not only do birds and other animals of the savannah adorn the objects, an Art Deco theme runs through them. The era’s Machine Age aesthetic is refiected in the octagonal motif and the designs are inspired by works of Art Deco artists like Paul Jouve and Major Felten. Featuring a cast Bakelite handle bolted with brass screws, the Panther Tankard is certainly a handsome vessel from which to enjoy an ice cold beer. Meanwhile, wine-lovers will get a kick out of serving and decanting wine through the roaring Lion Wine Pourer and the Crocodile Wine Funnel, respectively. And in the Birds Decanter, the African crowned crane, flamingo, grey parrot and ibis congregate to form a pewter collar around the bottle. Hip flasks featuring a lion or a gazelle against a background of intricate guilloche work are also available, making great gifts for those who want their favourite spirit within reach.

Royal Selangor has a long-standing reputation of combining craftsmanship with forward-thinking design. To view the products, visit its stores at Suntec City (#01370) or The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (#B2-92).
