Striking shades and bold lines make for standout timepieces.
REIGN OF TERRA
Audemars Piguet’s latest Royal Oak Offshore self-winding chronographs may come in military camouflage colours – brown (shown here), blue and green – but there’s no way they are fading into the background. Here, deep brown ceramic, used for the bezel, pushers and screw-locked crown, complements the watch’s 44mm rose gold case.
RIGHT ANGLES
The successful partnership between French artist Richard Orlinski and Hublot continues to bear some truly enticing fruit. Distinguished by the multiple facets that characterise Orlinski’s sculptures and his watches for the brand, this automatic Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Orlinski is housed in a matte, microblasted green ceramic case clocking in at 45mm.
FLY THE FLAG
From high jump to alpine skiing and motorsports, the RM 67-02 has seen plenty of action as the watch of choice for several Richard Mille sports ambassadors. Thanks to a case made of Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT – ultra-light but tough composites, an elastic wristband, and the use of titanium in its automatic movement, the RM 67-02 weighs a barely-there 32g. The 47.52mm by 38.7mm sporty timepiece is available in different country colours, with the one shown here decked out in the hues of the German flag.
BRIGHT SIDES
Franck Muller elevates its popular Vanguard model with a tourbillon, while retaining the sporty character of the watch with details such as appliqued numerals outlined in bright yellow, and the matte, brushed blackened titanium that is used to make its case (measuring 53.7mm by 44mm). The Vanguard Tourbillon is powered by the FM 2001 manually-wound movement.
RISING STAR
In itself, the star-shaped, open dial of the Zenith Defy Classic already makes for a pretty arresting timepiece. Rendered in blue ceramic, it’s a surefire showstopper. Visible through the open dial as well as a sapphire caseback, the 41mm watch is powered by Zenith’s own Elite 670 automatic movement, which features silicon parts for resistance to magnetism.
TOUGH PERFORMER
Unlike some perpetual calendar watches, this one by H. Moser & Cie is designed to be worn often, rather than tucked away in a watch winder. The manually-wound Pioneer Perpetual Calendar features a 42.8mm steel case with a water resistance of 120m. For optimal legibility, the date and month are shown in two large windows, set against a handsome burgundy smoked dial.
RACE ACE
The Mille Miglia Racing Colours chronographs are five special-edition timepieces marking the 30th anniversary of Chopard’s partnership with the Mille Miglia classic car rally. Each of the five different dial colours represent the racing colours of different nations in the first half of the 20th century – the blue shown here was associated with France. This 42mm steel timepiece is powered by a COSC-certified movement.
