With a new look comes new innovations for IWC’s revamped Da Vinci line. The combination of complications in the Da Vinci Tourbillon Retrograde Chronograph is a first for the brand, but most impressive here is its flying tourbillon, which includes a stop-seconds feature. Also known as hacking seconds, it’s not common in tourbillons as the tourbillon carriage tends to get in the way, a problem very few (such as A. Lange & Sohne) have worked out.

Another noteworthy component is the watch’s diamondcoated silicon lever and escape wheel which, in addition to being resistant to magnetism, is light enough to contribute to its unshabby 68-hour power reserve.
