The latest beauty gadget from Skin Inc, the Optimizer Voyage Tri-light Glasses for Bright Eyes, looks like the aviators worn by Cyclops of the X-Men, only more stylish. While it isn’t made of ruby quartz like the superhero’s, it does shine red – and yellow, and orange.

When creating these LED glasses, Skin Inc founder Sabrina Tan drew inspiration from cat-eyed sunglasses worn in Parisian runway shows.
These colours make up the device’s LED chromotherapy treatment. The science: Different-coloured lights penetrate the skin at varying depths, activating light-receptor cells to deal with different eye-area concerns. Red light is said to offer an anti-ageing treatment that boosts skin radiance; yellow light aims to alleviate dark eye circles; and orange light (red + yellow) does both at once for a more intensive session.
Put on the glasses as if they were sunnies and choose your desired light setting. You don’t have to keep your eyes closed and can go about your normal activities. The glasses automatically turn the light off after 10min. For best results, you can apply eye cream before using the device. It costs $298. – CT
