The new it girls in hollywood whether it’s burning up the big screen or taking the fashion runways by storm, these women will be part of many water-cooler conversations in 2016.

The rising young model: Sophia ahrens

How many models can boast about owning the major ad campaigns of Prada and Marc Jacobs when they were just 17 and still fresh on the scene? This English- German stunner can. When fashion houses such as Burberry, Chanel and Dior all jumped on board to feature the 19-year-old in her runway debut at their Fall 2015 shows, we knew her name was one that isn’t going away soon. Trust us.

Not just gigi’s younger sister: Bella hadid

Bella’s modelling career in 2015 may have been overshadowed by her older sister’s star power (Gigi was snapped up by Marc Jacobs and Chanel for their Spring/Summer 2015 shows, and is part of Taylor Swift’s girl squad – which basically means you’ve made it), but we’re betting that the new year is Bella’s turn in the limelight. Besides her booking in Balmain’s Fall 2015 campaign and the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the 19-year-old has reportedly become a favourite of industry bigwigs such as Tom Ford and Jeremy Scott, further reinforcing her status as a force to be reckoned with. And if all things go according to plan, you might see the avid equestrian competing in the 2016 Olympics too!

The next hollywood darling: Gal gadot

Since her casting as Wonder Woman in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Israeli actress’s career has been on an upward trajectory. She was named the face of the Gucci Bamboo scent, and cast in films alongside Kate Winslet and Jon Hamm. And how much do we love that Wonder Woman is being played by an actress who’s probably just as kickass in real life? Gal previously served in the Israel Defense Forces, demanded to do her own stunts in the Fast and Furious movies, and rode a Ducati bike until she became a mum. A+ casting, we say.

Wearable trends for the new year

Pleats

What better way to add girlish charm to your silhouette than with fancy folds? Micropleats in particular are set to be huge, and we can’t get enough of them as flirty detailing – as seen on the swinging dresses at Hugo Boss, the loose pants at Proenza Schouler and, of course, at Issey Miyake, who used a method of printing glue onto fabric before baking it to set the pleats into visually stunning patterns.

Sleepwear-inspired pieces

These are not actually the clothes you go to sleep in, of course, but rather, slip dresses and PJ-style pieces that are luxe enough to wear out and look eff ortlessly stylish. On the Celine runway, black-and-white slip dresses were adorned with lace embellishments, while Alexander Wang’s last collection for Balenciaga featured off - white numbers such as loose camisoles, silk boxers and even bedroom slippers.

Extreme experiences

If you find yourself spending a pretty penny on epic travel itineraries for your holidays, you’re not alone (and you don’t need to feel bad). At the International Luxury Travel Market Americas 2015 event, experts noted that the younger generation are “willing to spend a lot of money and put themselves into very harsh circumstances, for the sole purpose of having their minds blown”.

According to luxury bespoke travel agency Lightfoot Travel, this experiential way of escape translates into hotels that are physically hard to get to (think: Skylodge Adventure Suites in Peru, the world’s first hanging lodge, which brave folks enter by scaling a rock face or hiking up a trail with the help of ziplines) or excursions that take one, literally, into the depths of the earth (fancy touring a man-made cave deep within the Langjokull, Europe’s second largest glacier, or trekking through Hang Son Doong in Vietnam, possibly the largest known cave passage in the world?). Basically, the sort of stuff that’ll get you tons of envy-inducing Instagram posts and brilliant conversation starters. We’re so psyched for this.

Skylodge Adventure Suites, made up of three pods each equipped with beds, a dining room and an ecofriendly bathroom, is located in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco in Peru.

The mode - off - duty look

With next-generation supermodels such as Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss – who are all about youthful beauty and eff ortlessly chic style – hogging all the headlines in 2015, is it any wonder why everyone is hankering after that enviable model-off -duty look this year? Just remember: It’s all about a dewy, freshly scrubbed complexion, a hint of colour on the lips and messy ponytails – the Beyonce “I woke up like this” look, if you will.
