Who he is: The Londonbased Turkish designer has won four consecutive New Generation awards at London Fashion Week in his 15-year career.
His fans: Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Elle Fanning, Marion Cotillard, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana even purchased pieces from his 2002 Central Saint Martins MA graduate show collection to use as inspiration. Queen Elizabeth II also invited him to Buckingham Palace in 2010 for his contributions to the British fashion industry.
What he’s known for: “I like to call my style ‘demi-couture’, because despite making ready-towear, my DNA lies in handcraft, layering and texture contrast, muted colours and volume forms, all of which are fabricated with a similar level of care and attention as couture,” says Aksu. “It’s romantic, but always with a darker twist. My demicouture pieces are full of elegance, intrigue and seduction.”
Where: #B2-107 The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, which also showcases the designer’s own contemporary art to complement the clothes. “You will see illustrations I’ve drawn over the years, defining and creating the Bora Aksu girl – feminine, delicate, graceful, dreamy, an incurable romantic.”
Price range: $1,960$15,160 for the S/S ’18 collection.
Who’s behind the online label: Designers David Rosenfeld and Olga Schunk founded it last year.
Its DNA: “We are mostly inspired by music, rock music, life around us and on the streets, our own world, and old movies,” say Rosenfeld and Schunk. “We want our styles to give power. When you wear Jacob Lee, it should be like a second skin that gives you confi dence and attention wherever you go.”
What’s in store: Nouveau grunge meets Hedi Slimane’s SL – leather biker jackets, ripped jeans, slip dresses, and graphic tees and sweaters.
