ETOURDISSANT CARTIER
The 169-year-old French jeweller has named its high-jewellery collection after a French word for “astonishing”. Featuring pieces with opal, coral, tanzanite, garnet and chrysoprase – chosen for their unique way of transforming light – it showcases Cartier’s artistry and expertise in gemstone selection. Its inspiration lies in the play of light and shadow. For example, the white gold bracelet’s (top) sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds and rock crystals represent day, while the onyx represents night.
TIFFANY & CO. BLUE BOOK
First published in 1845, this is an annual showcase of Tiffany & Co.’s finest creations. The 200 exquisite, one-of-a-kind pieces featured in the book are crafted by the iconic American brand’s skilled inhouse artisans, all experts in the art of gemstone setting. The 2016 collection, shown in New York in May, takes inspiration from the sea. Stunning sea creatureinspired pieces include platinum fish earrings with 6.52-carat cushioncut tanzanites, green tourmalines and diamonds, a starfish cuff, and a whimsical octopus brooch.
