My Reading Room

In 2009, three scientists from the USA won the Nobel Prize for Medicine for their work on telomeres, the caps at the end of each strand of DNA that protect our chromosomes from degradation.

This discovery opened up research avenues across different fields in medicine and biology. It also prompted new understanding of how skin ageing works.

The Babor Reversive 360 Premium Care facial ($290) is based on this research. The key ingredients in all the products are telovitin – said to protect telomeres against premature breakdown and even extend the life cycle of cells – and agicyl, an ingredient that activates a longevity gene. The centrepiece of the range is a mask that also has lumicol – meant to even out the skin tone – as well as epocyl, which reportedly fills out wrinkles temporarily.

Immediately after the facial, skin is said to look brighter, firmer and smoother, and feel silky to the touch.
