My Reading Room

Every new collection rolled out by Bally bears witness to the transformative journey it has taken in the last 165 years. Before it became the international fashion behemoth it is today, the brand had modest roots in shoemaking. Founded in 1851 by the enterprising Carl Franz Bally, the company first produced exquisite footwear in the town of Schoenwerd, Switzerland.

Over the years, the Swiss brand has scaled many heights. In 1976, Bally expanded its repertoire to include clothing and other leather goods for both men and women; and now, its iconic red-and-white Bally stripe is recognised worldwide. A demand for its well-made products has fuelled Bally’s foray into various overseas markets such as Australia, Brazil, China and Japan. The brand operates three outposts here in Singapore. The boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is one of the latest to stock its posh ready to wear offerings, while the Takashimaya store is designed after the first David Chipperfield concept.
