Miuccia Prada has always understood art’s ability to empower and influence. For her latest artist collaboration, Prada has teamed up with Swedish artist, Liselotte Watkins, to create the Prada Velvet for the brand’s pre-fall 2017 collection. The artist is known for her illustrations of stylish and confident women, and for this latest project, Watkins turned her artistic eye to cubism, resulting in a bag that is bold and modern. Futhermore, a new technique called “Apache Tears” stitching has been used on the velvet to create a three-dimensional and trompe-l’oeil effect—just so women can have their very own artwork to tote about town.
