BLANC SLATE

Daniel Lee’s minimalist medley of textures is the fashion equivalent of a breath of fresh air

Portrait of Tammy Strobel

In just a little over a year, Daniel Lee has refurbished the House of Bottega Veneta to astounding success, building it on the foundation of ’90s minimalism, but made utterly modern with his aptitude for off‑kilter chic and luxurious tactility—qualities he honed at Phoebe Philo’s Céline. Instead of disregarding house codes, he supercharged them—the most successful of which is his blow‑up of the brand’s signature Intrecciato weave. This lightweight look from his latest collection perfectly encapsulates his ethos of easy elegance, its harmony of comforting textures—cosy knits, woven leather, chunky chains—quietly lending a sense of richness to the soothing all‑white palette. In uncertain times, we tend to turn to the familiar; with Lee, he injects an extra dose of comfort and ease.

The knitted dress, knitted bra, leather bag and ring are available at Bottega Veneta, #01-04 ION Orchard (tel: 6238 0020).
