Fashion Stylist Gracia Phang dives into the oceans of couture and emerges with aquatic delights
The countdown to a new decade has officially begun, and we can think of no better way to complement the year-end festivities than with the best of fashion’s theatrics: Haute couture—a season feting craft, creativity and the very best fashion. There’s always something ethereal and T coutu futuristic about Iris van Herpen’s creations, with her haute couture fall/winter 2019 collection (14) calling to mind Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water—where a mysterious callin S amphibious creature and a mortal fall in love against all odds. Recreate the amp enchanted vibe with soft yet structured looks by layering a Comme des Garçons Noir Kei Ninomiya jacket (10) over a Dolce&Gabbana corset (4) teamed with a Proenza Schouler pleated skirt (8). Top it off with a bejewelled Audemars Piguet watch (12), an aquamarine ring from Chaumet (9) and a hair clip with iridescent sequins (13) to evoke shimmery waters for that touch of magic. A shimmering ankle-grazing dress from Tory Burch (7) in an alluring shade of blue will do the job just as nicely. Now open your heart and mind to welcome the new year with a splash. ■
