A GOOD TURN
Gwyneth Paltrow is using her Tinseltown power to do good for her homeland. Her new role as Frédérique Constant’s global Charity Brand Ambassador means that US$50 from the sale of each Classics Delight Automatic timepiece will benefi t DonorsChoose, a charity that aims to improve children’s education across the USA.
BEAT GOES ON
Music deejays seem to be the new partners of choice for watch brands these days. Soon after tapping into the cool quotient and immense fan following of David Guetta last year, TAG Heuer moved on to ink deals with a slew of beat maestros including Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. Corum has bust a similar move on the dance floor through its collaboration with EDM legend Steve Aoki. The award winning deejay-cum-producer has been given free rein to design a limited edition Bubble timepiece to be unveiled soon.
STRAP THIS ON
Raymond Weil celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with new additions to its elegant Shine collection. The new 32mm quartz numbers are available in steel or bi-colour gold PVD coated versions, with mother-of-pearl and diamond options. It also features a patented, quick-and-easy interchangeable bracelet system that allows women to change between a metal bracelet and a satin strap for greater style versatility.
ALL ABOUT WOMEN
With its booth at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève dressed with fabulous creations from Alexander McQueen, Chloé and Martin Margiela, Roger Dubuis’ focus on women this year is centred on their sartorial well-being. Its Black Velvet collection doesn’t disappoint. Presenting a trio of carbon watches, the 36mm designs come adorned with tourmaline paraibas, black spinels or diamonds that have been set on the bezel with a new patented gem-setting technique. The results? Unapologetically bold looks that any diva can appreciate.
Psst…
We’ll let you in on a little secret: You couldn’t do much better than a secret watch for a stunning piece that marries high octane glamour with functionality. Take Harry Winston’s My Precious Time, for example. Sparkling with 368 diamonds, the brooch unveils an octagonal watch dial by pressing on a stone below its central cushion-cut diamond. Then, there’s Chaumet’s Feuillage éternel secret bangle watch from its La Nature de Chaumet collection, which hides its petite watch dial beneath an oak leaf motif.
PICTURE PERFECT
Vacheron Constantin has teamed up with acclaimed American lensman Steve McCurry to commemorate the new additions to Overseas collection. The year-long project will see the photographer journeying across the globe to capture the sights of 12 little-known and sometimes inaccessible sites. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the spirit of travel and is guaranteed to ignite a sense of wanderlust—especially when taken in conjunction with the brand’s new Overseas World Timer watch with 37 time zones.
WE ARE LOVING...
This gilded cuff watch from Piaget’s Sunny Side of Life High Jewellery and Fine Watchmaking collection. Its bold, glamorous looks can be attributed to the collection’s inspiration of a Palm Springs summer and recalls the exuberance of the sun’s rays. Etched from pink gold, this numbered edition is adorned with over five carats worth of diamonds.
RACE TO THE FINISH
There’s nothing sexier than a woman who loves speed, especially when she looks like Carmen Jordá. The blonde beauty, who is the daughter of former race driver Jose Miguel Jordá, is currently a development driver for Renault Sport F1 Team. She’s also Bell & Ross’ ambassador for its ladies collections. “I am very happy to be able to represent the brand’s feminine line as I have really enjoyed seeing all the novelties... The Bell & Ross community is incredibly welcoming and it will be a pleasure to be a part of it,” she says about her appointment.
