As lyrical as it sounds, Chanel’s newest High Jewellery collection, Flying Cloud, wasn’t named after a Chinese poem, but a yacht that was once owned by Hugh Grosvenor, the second Duke of Westminster who was Gabrielle Chanel’s lover for 10 years. The collection is filled with nautical motifs including anchors, buoys, knots, sailor buttons and, a Chanel favourite, Breton stripes—for a stylish playfulness that aerates the designs with youth and vigour.
