Tanjong Pagar Distripark is a long way from New York’s Chelsea Piers – the former ship terminal-turned-venue of choice for some of fashion’s hippest shows and bashes – but on April 21, the industrial estate came close to it. Over 300 tastemakers, personalities and insiders from the local fashion, beauty and creative industries turned up to attend the 13th edition of Female/Nüyou Catwalk at Artspace@Helutrans, one of the trendiest converted art galleries on site. The evening’s highlight: the Singapore runway debut of DKNY’s S/S ’16 collection, the first by the iconic Big Apple-based label’s new creative directors Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne.
Besides the parade of ’90s minimalist-inspired dresses and separates – with slick hair by Kimage and fresh, nearly all-nude faces by Nars to match – guests could preview some of the sleekest compact vehicles from Mercedes, the event’s official presenter.
And, adding to the cool, casual yet playful vibe, guests were treated to gourmet bites from Luxe Catering (everyone went nuts over the truffled potato gaufre); Fiji Water and creative cocktails from Drinkdings; and a set by W Hotels' Asia Pacific music director Mr. Has, aka one of Singapore’s most sought-after DJs. Now this is how you party.

30 LOOKS, 15 MODELS
Everything on the runway – the debut collection by DKNY’s new creative directors Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne – recalled the cool of ’90s minimalism, with lots of clean lines, monochrome and the return of the pinstripe.

5 NARS 5 NARS
Helmed by the brand’s lead artist/trainer Julyen Loo, the beauty crew updated the no-makeup look with a slight flush and swash of bronze eyeshadow.

6 KIMAGE HAIRSTYLISTS
The ’do that ruled the catwalk: slick, shiny and modern, with a neat side part.

OVER 300 GUESTS
Including the one and only David Gan; four women from the Female Collective (model Nadia Rahmat, beauty vlogger Guan Min, and creative consultants Charmaine Seah and Aarika Lee); two underage yet ultra stylish guests (they came with dad, Hairloom founder Calvin Gan); and an unprecedented number of people in monochrome (nope, it wasn’t planned).

9 CELEBRITIES
Even if you aren’t into the local Chinese entertainment scene, you have got to know Fann Wong.

OVER 800 DRINKS CONSUMED
Not hard to believe when the cocktail menu boasted innovative creations like Spirit de Passion, a passion fruit infusion; and Star Power, which came with a spicy star anise kick. Guests were also kept hydrated with plenty of Fiji Water.

1 MR. HAS
The W Hotels’ stylish Asia Pacific music director (below) – who has DJ’ed for brands such as Prada and Dior – doled out his modern brand of house behind the decks.

2 COVETABLE MERCEDES CARS ON SHOW
The AMG A45 4MATIC and the A class, two of the most handsome and luxurious compact vehicles out now with their sleek, sporty lines.
