It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that when it was first launched almost three years ago, the Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin Global Agede-fying Skincare Perfect Skin Creator (yes, catch your breath) was not just targeted at the millennial woman of the time, but also in itself her beauty equivalent.
It was a multi-hyphenate, said to treat just about everything from wrinkles to uneven skin tone to redness t0 dullness. It also doubled as a base for foundation, creating a natural finish that allowed users to ace one of the most elemental parts of living today: being Insta-ready. And of course, it promised effects that all the Chiara Ferragnis of the world would appreciate: results with little effort, quickly.
In the words of Edouard Mauvais-Jarvis, environmental and scientific communication director for Parfums Christian Dior: “It’s designed to make women’s lives easier.
Truly millennial women never stop, and aren’t afraid to shake things up for the sake of improvement though. And like them, this hybrid product has now undergone a reformulation – said to provide an even more flawless-looking complexion in even lesser time. In stores this month, it also comes with an, um, even longer name: Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin Advanced Global Age-defying Skincare Perfect Skin Creator – but, hey, don’t quibble.
To be applied in the morning after moisturiser, its ability to boost radiance without making you look as if you have makeup on stems from the addition of two ingredients. The first is a new generation of crystalline-structured mica – commonly used in foundation to give it pigment – that reportedly appears more natural on skin. The other: silica spheres (the minerals used in makeup to improve smoothness and absorb oil) in a hollow form. What this does is allow the fluid to diffuse light better. If you aren’t sure what this means, think back to Insta-photography class 101: diffused light = brighter skin + blurred out flaws.
That’s not to say that Dreamskin Advanced focuses only on looks. The lightweight product boasts a souped-up longoza plant complex, which claims to boost collagen and elastin production for firmer, more supple skin. Meanwhile, opilia shrub extract reduces inflammation and pore size, and lightens dark spots. And in the same way millennial women aren’t afraid to branch out, there’s now the Dreamskin 1-Minute Mask, which boasts a cocktail of salicylic, glycolic, citric and flower acids to gently exfoliate skin in, yup, 60 seconds flat. A pearly pink gel-cream, it contains encapsulated pearls said to boost luminosity and even out skin tone.
For those with relatively good skin (lucky you), using both the mask and fluid means you’ll be able to hide small imperfections sans foundation. And for everyone else, simply add a lightweight foundation or cushion after for skin that’s velvety smooth, soft and rosy – you guessed it –instantly.
